At Fine Line Flooring Inc. we know your floor is an exclusive, masterpiece that brings value and elegance to your home. Proper maintenance is minimal but crucial for preserving its beauty. Follow these simple steps to protect your investment and ensure your floors remain stunning for years.
DUSTING AND SWEEPING
Regularly dust your hardwood floors using disposable cloths or reusable microfiber pads, which trap dirt, particles, and allergens through static electricity. Avoid brooms, as they can push dirt around instead of trapping it. When cleaning, keep the microfiber pad on the floor to ensure dirt remains trapped.
VACUUMING AND MOPPING
When vacuuming hardwood floors, avoid using vacuums with beater bars or turn off the beater brush feature, as it can damage the finish and scratch the surface. Use damp sponge or microfiber mops, like Swiffer mops, to clean the floors, and remember to ensure no excess moisture is left behind.
Diluted Bona® Pro Series Hardwood Floor Cleaner or Bona® Hardwood Floor Cleaner are recommended by Fine Line Flooring Inc. for cleaning. Afterward, allow the floor to dry completely before walking on it. Always refer to cleaning product manufacturer guidelines for application instructions.
Avoid overly wet mopping, as pooling or excess water may discolor the surface or cause damage to the floor’s structure. Never use steam devices on hardwood floors, as they can damage the finish.
Avoid outdated tips, such as using vinegar, soap, or wax, which could cause long-term damage to your floor’s finish.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Quickly attend to spills by soaking up pooled liquids and wiping the area clean. Depending on the spill, you may need to use one of the recommended cleaners.
Prevent particles like sand, dirt, and grit from causing scratches and shortening the lifespan of your floor’s finish by using protective mats at external entrances. Exercise caution with dirty shoes, high heels, or pet claws, as they can cause scratches or indentations in the wood.
To minimize scratches and indentations on the wood, use protective pads for the feet of chairs and furniture. Never drag or slide furniture without the necessary protection.
By following these tips, you'll be able to preserve the beauty and durability of your unique hardwood flooring for years to come. Please contact Fine Line Flooring Inc. at 817-896-6321 with any questions.
